About the Event

Connection Across the Spectrum is proud to partner with Bayou Oaks at City Park for a meaningful community volunteer experience!

This volunteer opportunity is designed specifically for our adult members on the autism spectrum, providing a supportive environment to build confidence, develop social and workplace skills, and engage in meaningful community service.

Our Connection Crew will support the Bayou Oaks Junior Golf Summer Camp by operating a hydration and healthy snack station for campers and staff. Volunteers will have the opportunity to give back to the community while gaining valuable real-world volunteer experience and representing Connection Across the Spectrum.

Bayou Oaks' Junior Golf Camp provides young golfers with a fun, educational, and engaging introduction to the game. Led by Head Golf Professional and Camp Director Barrett Carter, alongside a team of PGA Professionals and experienced coaches, campers learn the fundamentals of golf—including putting, grip, posture, ball flight, green reading, and golf-specific movement—through age-appropriate instruction and interactive activities. Campers also develop important values such as sportsmanship, respect, course etiquette, teamwork, and integrity.

Volunteer Information

  • This opportunity is exclusively for Connection Across the Spectrum adult members on the autism spectrum.

  • Volunteers will assist with the hydration and healthy snack station for campers and staff.

  • Please arrive by 8:15 AM for volunteer orientation and event set-up.

  • Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor activities.

  • Golf is an active sport. For everyone's safety, volunteers must remain aware of their surroundings, maintain a safe distance from golf activities, and follow all directions provided by Bayou Oaks staff.

  • Parents, caregivers, and support staff are encouraged to remain available to assist participants as needed.

We look forward to serving alongside our Connection Crew as we make a positive impact, strengthen community connections, and demonstrate the many talents and contributions of autistic adults through volunteer service.
